He’s a baseball star. I’m the fool who let him break her heart. I never thought we’d see each other again, but life has a cruel way of forcing people to face their past.

Growing up, Corey Johnson was the guy of my dreams. Handsome, athletic, smart, and surprisingly kind to me– his best friend’s quirky little sister. I worshiped the ground the baseball star walked on, and it seemed like he and I might one day become more than friends.

But that was before Corey did something I will never be able to forget… or forgive.

Years later, I get my dream job as the social media coordinator for my favorite professional baseball team. My life is finally on the upswing. Until the team trades for… you guessed it… Corey freaking Johnson.

Now, I have to work with the man who broke my heart. I’m determined to keep my distance. But Corey seems to have other ideas…

    a fun read
McKenna combined two of my faves, baseball and love! Fans of Britt McKenna will love this book and can consider it a MUST read! FMC is America’s sweetheart and totally crushing on her older brother’s best friend, the MMC. MMC has great character growth and highlights rarely talked about realities for some of America’s youth. What sets this book apart is our MMC learning to accept what’s behind him in order to be able to embrace what’s in front.

    Good read
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were wonderful, loving and protective of each other. The family and friends were great. This was a real feel good story with a great concept and very well written.

    Great Read!
Really enjoyed this light hearted, fun book! Appreciated the inclusion of sports and ‘pushing the boundaries of sexism’ along with the importance and benefits of volunteering. So good.

    second chance
Corey, Carlee and her older brother grew up together. Corey had a horrible drunk father. While Carlee’s family provided some family time and food for Corey, but he hid even more issues. He grows into an amazing pitcher with lousy people skills. Ends up with a last ditch opportunity back with team that Carlee is Social Messaging lead for. This is their second chance love story as they learn more about each other, still lots of poor communication skills. Fraternization rules create some issues. It is a good story, but it needs some tightening up and stronger storyline vs excuses for sex scenes.

Can’t Wait to Read It Again!
This was seriously such a good book. I really loved all the characters in it, but I especially fell hard for Carlee and Corey. I’m not even into the sports, and I was all in for the baseball drama and fell in love with all the players on the Lonestars. And it’s so fun to see characters from previous series. I am so excited for the rest of the books in this series and to get to know the other characters more. This is definitely one I will read again and again for all the happy feels.
