Read this if you’ve never bought this bread before
The 6-pack price is pretty good. 7-month shelf life from the time mine arrived. I go through one pack every two weeks. But, it looks like there are a lot of bad reviews from people who aren’t familiar with this stuff. Some insights:1) Every bad review about it being “crumbly” is because they didn’t toast it. I can’t imagine eating this not toasted. Toast it on the highest setting. It takes a while to toast this bread. I do one cycle on the longest setting, plus a little more after that.2) It’s called “bread” and technically it’s made with bread ingredients, but don’t expect bread like you get in a bakery or store.3) As soon as you open it, it needs to be sealed in a ziplock bag and put in the refrigerator. It’ll mold very quickly otherwise. Super long shelf life if unopened. Not once it’s opened. As mentioned above, it’ll last a couple weeks in the fridge in a ziplock bag.4) I love mayonnaise, on like everything, but for some reason vegenase tastes sooooo much better on this bread. The only reason I own vegenase is for this bread. It’s like a mellow aioli, and just compliments this bread fantastically.5) imo, this bread makes the best avocado toast there is.

Love this bread!
I’ve ordered this many times. It’s very similar to “black bread” in Germany. It’s dense and really good for you. There is so much protein and fiber it keeps you full a long time. It takes some getting used to, but once you have it will become your go to because it’s so darn healthy! Best toasted so it’s just a bit crisp around the edges with avocado or tuna. I also toast it quite a bit and then crumble in my salads. So good!

bad taste
I’ve been buying this bread for years and always loved it. This time, however, as I opened the 6-pack (I got 2 of them), I saw immediately that the bread had dark spots all over and there was moisture inside individual packages. I opened a few of them and tasted the bread – it was awful, definitely not fresh. Took some of it to the nearby park to feed squirrels, but they did not like it either. $60 goes to trash.

Healthy snack!
I already knew that I liked this product, it’s an acquired taste and maybe not the option for someone who likes fluffy white bread. It is a bit on the dry side and crumbles easily, but if you’re ok with that, and are looking for a high fiber, healthy bread/snack option, then this is it! I put a variety of toppings on it to complement the flavor, I use it more as a healthy vessel and let the topping be the star of the story.

I love this dark, dense, flavorful bread. Perfect toasted w cheese. Keep in the refrigerator. It can get crumbly over time, so use it up.

Rough texture / whole grain
I’ve enjoyed this bread form Amazon and elsewhere.Having nothing to do with my rating, but hopefully useful for other customers:This is not the bread that most people in the US is are used to. It is VERY dense and a very different consistency, VERY whole grain (rough), so may not be what many like. Slices are VERY thin.This also make it more likely to crumble, sometimes get moldy too, in shipping.This is a high sodium and salt bread, so if you are on a salt restricted diet, not for you.My own review, rating related:I grew up on high and whole grains, so used to UN-American rough textured foods like this. While I am not on any salt restricted diet, I find the salt too high for my taste. One of the reasons we use less.At times, crumbling during shipping, and some mold, can be a problem. Also, the price has increased since my last order, now more expensive than other sellers including my local health food grocer, has made me cut the amount on my next scheduled Subscribe and Save order by more than half (60%)…I may just cancel it and get it locally.Hope you find this useful!
