Remember when you needed to smooth out those joists? Plane away chips, splinters and misshapen edges with the WEN 6 Amp 3-1/4 Inch Electric Hand Planer. Perfect for fixing stubborn doors and fitting wood. This power planer’s 6-Amp motor delivers over 34,000 cuts per minute to your workpiece, slicing away any irregularities until the surface of your boards are aligned and smooth. With a cutting width of 3-1/4 inches and a maximum cutting depth of 1/8 inch, you’ll have the perfect companion for fitting and squaring boards. The 16 positive stops increase in increments of 1/128 inch anywhere from 0 all the way up to 1/8 inches. The base plate shoe even includes a v-shaped groove for easily flattening sharp post corners. Aside from the power planer, this package also includes a dust bag, a rabbeting guide, a kickstand and a parallel fence bracket. The included rabbeting guide adjusts anywhere from 0 to 7/10 inches to allow for rabbets up to an inch deep in size. The parallel fence provides an accurate and straight cut by making sure your strokes are directly parallel to the edge of the wood (a must have for planing door edges, wood trim and boards). The kickstand protects both the blade and the workpiece in between uses by keeping the blade elevated and out of contact from the surface of your project. Finally, the dust bag collects all of your loose shavings to keep your work space clean and sawdust free. The bag attaches to both the left or right hand side of the planer to fit whatever your preference may be. And because this is a WEN Product, your 6 Amp 3-1/4 Inch Electric Hand Planer comes backed by a 2-year warranty, a friendly customer help line, and a nationwide network of skilled service technicians. WEN Electric Planer saves you time and money
I had several sticking doors in my home that needed fixed. I didn’t want to spend a fortune for my home use and researched electric planers. I was familiar with the WEN Brand so I gave this one a try as my first electric planer. Similar quality planers were double the price.I used the WEN Planer on several hollow core doors and one heavy thick antique door and was very pleased with the performance. I had never used one before and just followed the directions included and set up the planer to remove a small amount at a time as little as 1/64″ or you can adjust it to take off much more. TIP: Start slow and use the low settings 1/64, 1/32″ and secure your work. The handle can be set to plane left or right handed as needed. TIP: The planer comes with a bag you can attach to the planer to catch the wood chips which is nice, but fills very quickly. However, I used my 1 gallon shop vac and attached the hose in place of the cloth bag. I would turn on the shop vac and then plane the door until I was finished with the vaccum sucking up the wood chips.I’m very happy with my purchase. It made quick work of my sticking doors and was easy to use and clean up. I saved half what I would have purchasing a local name brand unit. WEN is good quality for the homeowners needs. I would recommend this Wen Electric Planer to a friend.

    Great Value
I didn’t have high expectations. I’m familiar with cheap tools and that’s what I expected as this tool isn’t very expensive. From that perspective, this was much better than I expected… and represents a great value. It doesn’t feel or look ‘cheaply made’. When it powers up, it’s smooth and didn’t bog down under a ‘medium’ cut in very hard wood. It’s very easy to control and didn’t give any indication that it wanted to kick back.It is a ‘skill tool’. Unlike a stationary planer which cuts exactly as set… this will cut wherever you put it.Still, on my first use it did exactly what I needed, quickly and easily. My specific need (the reason for the purchase) was that I recently got a new set of raised panel bits and didn’t notice that I hadn’t ‘raised the panel’ high enough. This left the backside about 3/32″ ‘proud’ of the rails and stiles. Being 26″ wide, I didn’t have any tool that could easily remove that much wood. My stationary planer is only 16″ wide, a belt sander would take half a day… I was considering dozens of passes with a router… changing the setup in between each cut.In thinking about how it could be done… I remembered seeing ‘these’ before… and considering I’ve never needed one before… didn’t want to spend a lot of money. In solid red oak, full width, 1/32″ cuts, this just zipped through. Probably less than five minutes of ‘cutting time’.I made about 3 gallons worth of chips… and the included dust bag… holds about 2 cups. So, that’s pretty much worthless… but that was a minor issue… one I can solve with a dust collector adapter. As soon as I finished… I saw another application (the edge of the same panel) and it made short work of that too.I’m sure I’ll be using this a lot more.

Planes Quickly, But Fills Super Fast
I’ll update this review when I’ve had more time with it, but for now, this is what I have seen. This planer is actually really good at chewing through wood. I’m admittedly new at this, but I’m a tinkerer, so I can figure things out pretty quickly. I just got this planer and started on a scrap piece of wood. It did very well, but I found that it starts out with divots, so I’m guessing it’s probably how I’m using it. I can keep at it until I figure out that it’s just me or this planer.I only docked 1 star, because the bag fills so quickly you really can’t make but a few passes even at the lowest setting before the bag has to be emptied. If I could see it filling up, that would have been more helpful to know when to stop. I found it was best to empty it by pulling the long plastic sheath at the bottom and opening the bottom of the bag where it is widest. Trying to do this through the little whole near the top of the bag is MUCH harder and doesn’t work as well. It would have been better to simply have a plastic container than a bag whereby it’s easy to dump out the debris and you can see how quickly it fills. Either supply a plastic container or provide an adapter for the standard sized shop vac….I don’t know. The container would be more of a must, but an adapter would have been a great addition. For the price…can I really complain? No…I can get an adapter.Having said that, it’s filling quickly because it’s actually working. It did a very nice job of mostly leveling out an edge of a board, then I did a second piece and then placed them together to see places where they don’t lie flush. What I found was two things:1) The fact that I didn’t have the wood on clamps on a level surface (simply freehanding this) caused me to cut at more of an angle…so I recommend clamping the wood before doing this and going as level as possible2) The edges of the first board I did bowed out from the second I placed next to it, implying I had to trim out the middle of the first one a bit, since the second board looked pretty level. Of course, you should actually use a level to ensure your faces are flat, but I was just messing around with thisThe build quality is nice, the weight is heavy enough not to lose control of it, but light enough to keep your arms from getting tired. You’ll know when the bag fills up when the chips start flying out the other side, so they really needed to put in a plastic container, instead. All the knobs and features are great, but the directions are mediocre at best. I couldn’t tell how to put the rabbet guide or the plane guide on without going to the commercial for the product. They need to include that in the manual.Overall, I can see how this will make quick work out of getting boards flush together, along with a sander. As with anything…planning your work out, along with practice will go a long way to ensuring a project goes well.

Easy to handle. Easy to set up. Works Great!!
I had a door that needed to be trimmed because it was hitting at the top. I went on Amazon to buy a planer and found this Wen planer. It came today and I couldn’t wait to try it. It was the easiest thing I had done in quite a while. Well worth the money. I would recommend this product without hesitation.

Great little planer, very good quality
Used this to level the walls in my new construction shower. Works great. Only thing that wasn’t really great was the shavings collection bag, it’s so small that it fills with a swipe or two.

Purchased the planer on sale. It showed up packaged and covered in sawdust. Battery had a full charge. Attached it to the planer and squeezed the trigger. Click nothing happens. Read some reviews on the planer and one gentlemen had the same issue after he used it for a 3/4 pass on some lumber. I’m thinking this is the planer I received. Disappointing and a 1 star review is justified.

Went about 3/4 of a pass on a 4 foot pine board and quit. The motor made a ticking sound and that’s all the use I got out of it. I do have a replacement coming so we will see how it performs.
