Even Keeps the Squirrels Away
This shepherd’s hook is long enough that it keeps the feeder above the railing on our deck, where we can more easily watch the birds eat. As a bonus, the squirrels that used to “take over” the feeder can’t climb the length of this pole, which is also a bit smaller around than our last one. It bends a little from the weight of the feeder, but it stays securely in the ground, even in the strong winds and storms we’ve had lately. I highly recommend.

Strong enough to hold my big chime
I’m relieved that this Shepherd actually supports my heavy windchime. I thought I might be over the stated weight limit by 2 pounds, but no, it is pounded fully into the ground and works just as I hoped. It is very sturdy, strong, and well-made. I took a lot of time comparing hooks and I couldn’t be happier with this product.Thank you!

I am waiting till spring to set up the shepards hook, but I have unpacked it and put some of the poles together. The threaded ends go together very well, and the poles feel very sturdy the finish looks good. Being able to adjust the height was a big selling point for me, I am going to hang a large wind chime on it and believe it will hold up good.

I bought this hook for my husband to hang his finch feeder. This hook is heavy and sturdy and a great height. The squirrel can’t climb it.

Using these as the usual yard attention grabbers.Assembly is easy. Just have room because they get taller as you go. Leave lots of swing space.The anchors are heavy and great. Be sure to get them in a + shape. Don’t stab your foot with them. Don’t stab anyone else with them.If your ground is proving too hard to set the poles:Dig it up and tamp it down againorWet it to soften it.In any case:Step on the crossbar. Slowly. deliberately. Taking care to balance out each bar of the cross. Put your weight on it and see if that helps. Pounding on the crossbar with your foot – ok. sure. How vertically straight do you want this pole? It will take the pounding, but it mocks your aggression as it looms akilter.Two people who can argue over where and how to do it while doing it is better than one, most times.Unless you set these poles in concrete, should you tie a line between them and put moderate tension on each with the tautening, there will likely be tilt. Either add a guy line to counterbalance or adjust your plan.Decor hangs from the top crook just fine. When in a garden, soaked soil can affect this stability. Some adjustment was needed, but mucking about didn’t bother the pole integrity, so no worries. Didn’t try large buckets of flowers.Also, bigger the hanging thing, the more vulnerable entire structure is to wind. Lightweight things that flutter hold up well.

I used these to hang my strawberry plants, so far they seem really sturdy. I used my weight then a rubber hammer and a towel to get them flush in the ground. They have not moved and we had quite the storm yesterday! I would recommend these, I’ve had others that are not near as sturdy. They will probably need to be repainted periodically. They are not painted so well but this is not a huge down side, a can of spray paint and problem solved.
